IRAN AND INDIA SET FOR EPIC SHOWDOWN AS CAVA MEN’S NATIONS LEAGUE 2025 REACHES GRAND FINALE

Fergana, Uzbekistan, June 3, 2025 – As the curtains begin to draw on the CAVA Men’s Volleyball Nations League 2025 here, the penultimate day delivered electrifying action, individual brilliance, and national pride in full display. With the final now set between Iran and India, volleyball fans are bracing for a grand finish on June 4.

Top-ranked Iran confirmed their supremacy with a confident 3-1 (28-26, 21-25, 25-17, 25-22) victory over Pakistan in a spirited semifinal clash.

Amirhossein Toukhteh led the charge with sharp spikes and a powerful net presence, while Ali Hajipour impressed with 15 attack points and 3 blocks, constantly disrupting Pakistan’s rhythm. Alireza Abdolhamidi also made his mark with 14 points and a 62% attack efficiency, reinforcing Iran’s depth and balance. Iran’s cohesion was evident throughout, as they absorbed Pakistan’s bursts of momentum with poise and discipline.

Pakistan, despite the loss, delivered a courageous performance, pushed forward by Murad Khan who tallied 20 points, including 3 service aces and several crucial attacks. Usman Faryad and Abdul Zaheer also contributed strongly, combining for 23 points, but the team struggled to maintain consistency against Iran’s well-organized defense and strategic blocking.

India, meanwhile, emerged victorious in a hard-fought five-set thriller against Kazakhstan (26-24, 19-25, 23-25, 25-21, 15-13), displaying extraordinary grit and determination. 

Setter John Joseph Enathu ran the offense with precision, while C. Vinit Kumar and Jerome Vinit each tallied over 10 points, delivering under pressure when it mattered most.

Suresh Kumar Chira stood out with 26 points, including 14 kills and 3 blocks, earning admiration for his commanding presence at the net. Captain Ashwal Rai contributed 10 points, anchoring the team with strong leadership and decisive plays.

Kazakhstan pushed India to the limit, with Petr Churzin recording 23 points and Boris Kempa contributing 19, both players showcasing world-class attacking efficiency. Despite their valiant effort, the Kazakh side fell just short in a match that kept fans on the edge of their seats for over two hours.

In the classification round, Kyrgyzstan edged past Uzbekistan in a captivating five-set encounter (25-19, 23-25, 25-21, 16-25, 16-14). 

Kempa Boris and Vitaliy Vorivodin were key for the home side, while Kyrgyzstan’s solid team performance, driven by smart rotations and tight defense, saw them secure a place in the 5th/6th place match against Turkmenistan on the final day.

The final day’s schedule on June 4 promises a fitting conclusion to this gripping competition. Kyrgyzstan will face Turkmenistan at 10:00am local time in the classification match (Match 16), followed by Kazakhstan vs Pakistan in the bronze medal match at 12:30pm (Match 17). The climax of the event, the gold medal showdown between Iran and India, will take place at 3:30 pm (Match 18), with volleyball fans across the region eagerly awaiting the clash between two of Asia’s finest.

Following the final, the closing ceremony will celebrate the achievements of all teams and players, reflecting on a tournament that has raised the bar for volleyball in Central and South Asia. 

As the senior competition concludes, all eyes will turn to the future: the CAVA U16 Boys’ Volleyball Championship and U19 Men’s Volleyball Championship, both starting on June 10 in Tashkent. The U16 event will feature six teams – Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, UZB1, and UZB2, while the U19 competition will see participation from India, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, UZB1, and UZB2.

With rising stars already making their mark and seasoned athletes delivering peak performances, the CAVA Men’s Volleyball Nations League 2025 has proven to be a true celebration of talent, teamwork, and continental unity. The final day in Fergana now awaits, with history ready to be written on the court.
