Tashkent, Uzbekistan, June 14, 2025 – The fifth day of the CAVA Boys’ U16 and Men’s U19 Volleyball Championships 2025 brought yet another exciting display of volleyball action at the JAR Sports Hall in Tashkent.
With four matches played on 14 June 2025, fans witnessed commanding performances by Iran and India, which continued to assert their dominance in their respective age categories. The energy in the venue was palpable as national teams fought for critical points to strengthen their standings in the round-robin stage.
In the Boys’ U16 division, Iran faced Kyrgyzstan in the opening match of the day. From the very first set, Iran imposed their authority on the game, winning convincingly in straight sets: 25–7, 25–10, 25–12. The Iranian players showcased excellent discipline, a well-coordinated block system, and fast-paced attacks that left Kyrgyzstan struggling to keep up.
Amir (#10) was the top scorer for Iran with 11 points, followed closely by Amirreza (#13) and Azhvan (#3), each adding 10 points to the scoreboard. Head Coach Arash Sadeghiany’s squad was flawless in execution, combining power and precision to control the match from start to finish. For Kyrgyzstan, Elaman (#5) stood out with 11 points and commendable effort, though Iran’s structured gameplay left few opportunities to break through.
The second Boys’ U16 match featured Kazakhstan taking on Uzbekistan 2. Kazakhstan entered the match with determination and focus, sweeping Uzbekistan 2 in three sets: 25–11, 25–17, 25–16. With effective serving, clean reception, and strong finishes at the net, Kazakhstan never allowed Uzbekistan 2 to find rhythm.
The Kazakh players applied constant pressure through tactical plays, pushing themselves closer to the top of the standings. Uzbekistan 2, despite showing moments of resistance, could not match the consistency of the Kazakh team throughout the sets.
As of June 14, Iran topped the Boys’ U16 ranking with a perfect record of three wins against no losses and without dropping a single set. Kazakhstan followed closely in second place with three wins against one loss. Uzbekistan 2 and Kyrgyzstan were tied in the middle of the table, while Uzbekistan 1 remained winless after three matches.
In the Men’s U19 division, Iran continued their dominant campaign with a powerful win over Kyrgyzstan, finishing the match 3–0 (25–15, 25–13, 25–17). Iran controlled the game through all phases – attack, block, and serve – demonstrating their trademark discipline and tactical superiority.
Amin (#1) led the scoring with 9 points, with support from Armin (#19) and A.Naderi (#11), who each contributed 8 points. Head Coach Adel Gholami rotated his lineup effectively, maintaining the team’s energy and intensity. Kyrgyzstan made efforts to respond, with Ergeshov Zalkatbek (#7) scoring 7 points and Mavliankulov Gulzhigit (#8) adding 5 points, but the gap in efficiency and cohesion was evident. Iran’s performance kept them undefeated and on top of the standings.
The final match of Day 5 saw India face Uzbekistan 2 in a four-set thriller. India started strong, taking the first set 25–20, but Uzbekistan 2 bounced back with a gritty 25–19 win in the second. India then regrouped and claimed the next two sets 25–16 and 25–22 to seal a 3–1 victory.
Captain Mahendra (#9) led by example, delivering 21 points and excelling in both attack and service. Rajat (#7) followed closely with 19 points, while Adarsh (#6) contributed 12 points with solid middle-blocking efforts. Uzbekistan 2’s Mamadaliyev (#6) and Fozilov (#7) were the standout performers for their side, each scoring 14 points, while Juraev (#3) added 9. Despite Uzbekistan 2’s fight, India’s consistency in critical moments made the difference and pushed them further up in the rankings.
With these results, Iran and Uzbekistan 1 remained tied at the top of the Men’s U19 standings with perfect records, each having won three matches. India, with two wins against two losses, sat in third, while Uzbekistan 2 and Kyrgyzstan were yet to secure a win in the tournament.
Looking ahead, Day 6 of the championship promises another thrilling round of matches. In the Boys’ U16 division, Kyrgyzstan will meet Uzbekistan 2 in the morning, followed by Uzbekistan 1 taking on the undefeated Iran.
In the Men’s U19 category, Kyrgyzstan will face Uzbekistan 2, while tournament favorites Uzbekistan 1 and Iran will clash in what is expected to be a blockbuster match.
Coaches praised their players’ focus and commitment during post-match reflections. “Our team is focused, and each match brings us closer to our goal. The boys are responding well under pressure,” said Iran U19 Head Coach Adel Gholami.
India’s Coach Kirumani echoed similar sentiments, stating, “That second set loss woke us up. We had to dig deep, and the boys delivered.”
