Nakhon Pathom, Thailand, June 7, 2022 – Fired-up Japan proved too strong for India to whip the unfancied rivals in straight sets 25-11, 25-10, 25-18 on the second day of 14th Asian Women’s U18 Volleyball Championship at the Nakhon Pathom Sports Center Gymnasium on Tuesday.
Title-holders Japan came up in full strength in the opening set against India. Making use of the splendid offensive combinations of devastating attacks by Miuka Watanabe and Riri Kasai, Japan won the match without much trouble.
With the victory on Tuesday, Japan continued their winning streak in Pool B. The formidable Japanese will challenge Chinese Taipei on Wednesday.
Miuka Watanabe topscored with 17 points for Japan including 12 kills, while Kavita scored 8 points for India.
Miuka said after the match, “Our last night’s win made us so happy as that was a big victory. Today, we played more relaxed and we did not get into trouble beating India.’’
