Manama, Bahrain, July 26, 2024 – Control Committee President and Technical Delegate Mr Yermek Syrlybayev from Kazakhstan chaired the joint meeting between the Control Committee and the Bahrain Volleyball Association (BVA) Executive Committee at Swiss-Belhotel Seef in Seef District to keep all attendants updated with a detailed explanation of all the regulations that will be applied for the upcoming 15th Asian Men’s U18 Volleyball Championship as well as roles and responsibilities of Committee Members between the two competition venues.
The gathering began with a welcome message from the tournament’s Director of Operations Habib Mohammed Abdulla, through which he conveyed the greetings of the event’s Supreme Organising Committee, headed by BVA President Shaikh Ali bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, and Executive Committee Chairman, Feras Al Helwachi.
Abdulla wished the visiting officials a pleasant stay in the country and expressed his appreciation for the confidence of the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) in Bahrain to host continental tournaments under its banner.
Abdulla said he is delighted to welcome the AVC delegates and wished the Control Committee and the visiting delegations the best success in the coming period.
For his part, Mr Yermek Syrlybayev praised the warm reception and hospitality given to them upon their arrival in the Kingdom. He added that they had previously been to Bahrain and have an idea of the BVA’s organisational capabilities and the services provided to the participating national teams and officials.
Yermek pointed out that Bahrain has been able to attract many events on the international and continental levels and this has given the Kingdom a prominent position on the global volleyball map.
He added that Bahrain’s playing host to the two Asian championships within a period of two months is a tremendous feat, pertaining to the AVC Challenge Cup for Men 2024 held in June, and it indicates a great interest in the game by the BVA.
Yermek said he is completely satisfied with the level of accommodation, transportation, and food being provided to the participants, which reflects the great care of the Supreme Organising Committee for the tournament.
The Control Committee then made inspection visits to the championship’s competition venues at Isa Sports City in Riffa and the various training halls across the Kingdom.
Meanwhile, at the Gulf Court Hotel on Friday night, the Preliminary inquiry was conducted for 8 teams participating in the tournament to check on their fulfillment of the special requirements, including the official uniform, their colors, and the approved ages, in preparation for approving the eligibility of the players during the General Technical Meeting on Saturday. The inquiry was also held for another 8 delegations that arrived late on Friday.
Emile Jabbour, Member of the Control Committee of the 15th Asian Men’s U18 Volleyball Championship to be held in Bahrain from July 28 to August 4, confirmed that Bahrain is ready to host the event, which will feature 16 national teams from across the continent.
Based on his experience on the ground in the past two days, Jabbour was pleased with the level of preparedness at the two competition venues at Isa Sports City in Riffa, along with all arrangements made to welcome and host the participants.
Jabbour had insisted on his presence in Bahrain several days before the arrival of the tournament’s Control Committee, and indicated that the positive feedback he has given is a testament to the outstanding organisation of the Bahrain Volleyball Association (BVA), headed by BVA President Shaikh Ali bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, who is praised by all members of the AVC and all National Federations under its umbrella.
Jabbour highlighted that Bahrain has achieved a level of excellence in hosting International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) and AVC tournaments in the past, and added that the Kingdom has all the elements to once again host the upcoming competition with great success.
He noted that the facilities and services provided by Bahrain are unmatched anywhere else in the continent, and that the BVA’s working committees provide a high level of cooperation, coordination, and teamwork, which are all important elements for the smooth running of an event.
In the same context, Jabbour explained that the close proximity of the two competition courts at Isa Sports City is beneficial for the championship’s Supreme Organising Committee, the Control Committee, and the various working committees.

He further pointed out that several national delegations have opted to arrive in Bahrain early and conduct their final preparations on the island. This is due to the great care given by the Kingdom to its visitors, covering all aspects of their stay including accommodation, transportation, training facilities, and the ability to play friendly games.
Meanwhile, Reception and Ushering Committee head Sadiq Al Zaimour explained that committee members have been assigned to their teams and have been doing an exceptional job in assisting in their needs.
Al Zaimour praised the staff for their positive attitude in engaging with the Kingdom’s guests and their ability to handle the high pressure of their duties.
On the playing court, Bahrain national team captain Ali Abdulla Sultan explained that their preparations have progressed well and that all the players have shown great focus.

Sultan added that the team have been following the directions of the technical and administrative staff, which has reflected positively on their performances in training. He added that they are determined to continue the high level they showed in winning the silver medals at the recently concluded Arab Youth Championship in Amman, Jordan.
Sultan said that the national team aims to qualify for the tournament’s Top Eight following the preliminary round, and is looking forward to having home-court advantage and playing in front of local fans.
