Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, January 7, 2020 – Kazakhstan got off to a brilliant start to claim their first victory after they outplayed Iran in straight sets 3-0 (25-14, 25-16, 25-14) in the AVC Women’s Tokyo Volleyball Qualification tournament at Chatchai Hall in Nakhon Ratchasima on Tuesday.
Kazakhstan team captain Alessya Safronova: “Of course we are very happy to win our first match of the tournament. We had a nervous start but we tried to keep cool and everything was going well for us. Overall, it was a good match for us. We had a short preparation before coming here but we are ready to fight for it.”
Kazakhstan head coach Canbolat Burhan Saik: “The first match of a tournament is always difficult, but my team performed really well today. I gave a chance to my veteran players today. We didn’t expect a match like this, so I am very happy with the way my team did today. The remaining matches will be even more difficult for us. Tomorrow we play against Indonesia – we have to study their play against Korea today. We will try our best to win.
Iran team captain Elham Fallah: “It was a good match.We have a very young team so we will take this match as a good learning experience.”
Iran head coach Mitra Shabanian: “Our team is so young and we still lack experience. We trained together for a month before coming here.Tomorrow for sure will be a very tough match for us when we play against Korea as they want to play in the Olympics. Hopefully we will do our best.”
