Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, January 7, 2020 – Kazakhstan breezed past Iran in a comfortable 3-0 (25-14, 25-16, 25-14)win to register their first victory on Tuesday in the opening match of 2020 AVC Women’s Tokyo Volleyball Qualification at the Chatchai Hall.
Captain Safronova Alessya chipped in a match-high 12 points for Kazakhstan followed by Anarkulova Sana with 10 while Ashofteh Mona only scored team-high 6 points for Iran.
Kazakhstan opened the match with two killing spikes in a row by their wing spiker Anarkulova Sana. Iranians failed to organize efficient counterattacks as they committed mistakes time by time in serving, reception and attacking. They could only sneak points from some lucky balls and opponents’ errors. Kazakhstan widened the gap soon from 8-4 to 16-8 and closed the set 25-14 following another fault by Iran.
In spite of increasing errors in the second set, Kazakhstan managed to control the situation from 8-5 lead to 16-8 through their formidable blocks and piercing spikes. Stubborn Iranians launched a series of terrific counterattacks to chase from 12-21 to 16-21 behind, forcing Kazakhstan to call a timeout. Allowing no more chance to Iran, Kazakhstan answered with 4 points in streak to finish the second set in 25-16.
Iran showed more aggressiveness in the third set and matched up with Kazakhstan till 7-7 tie. However, led by captain Safronova Alessya, Kazakhstan geared up and crushed the Iranians’ effort. Following an ace by Syroeshkina Zhanna, Kazakhstan concluded the set in 25-14 and the match 3-0 in a comfortable way.
