Osaka, Japan, May 13, 2025 – Devastating Al-Rayyan Sports Club of Qatar delivered a commanding performance at the AVC Men’s Champions League on Tuesday, defeating Vietnam’s Sport Training Center3 in straight sets (25-11, 25-15, 25-21) at the Panasonic Arena. The win marked Al-Rayyan’s second consecutive victory in Pool D, securing their place in the quarterfinals.
Star opposite Keita Noumory Keita was the standout performer, scoring a match-high 22 points, including 17 kills and 5 aces. He was well supported by Dutch international Nimir Abdel-Aziz with 17 points and Slovenian veteran Tine Urnaut who added 11. Tran Duy Tuyen led Sport Training Center3 with 10 points in a valiant but ultimately unsuccessful effort.
“I’m satisfied with my performance, though I know I can still improve,” said Keita after the match. “I’m happy we’ve reached the quarterfinals, and I’m committed to giving my best for the team.”
From the outset, Al-Rayyan imposed their dominance. Keita and Nimir unleashed powerful spikes that overwhelmed the Vietnamese defense and quickly built a substantial lead in the opening set. Despite spirited resistance and solid defensive efforts from Sport Training Center3, the physicality and tactical execution of the Qatari side proved too much to handle.
Keita continued to shine in the second set, delivering explosive midcourt attacks and service aces that disrupted the rhythm of the Vietnamese team. While Tran Duy Tuyen provided some resistance with powerful hits, Al-Rayyan’s offensive depth and tactical variety left Sport Training Center3 struggling to keep pace.
The third set saw the Vietnamese side display more cohesion and resilience, attempting to break through Al-Rayyan’s defense with teamwork and combination plays. However, the unrelenting pressure from Keita and Nimir ultimately sealed the deal for the Qatari side, which closed out the match with confidence and precision.
With this win, Al-Rayyan Sports Club topped Pool D with a perfect record, collecting six points from two straight-set victories. Muharraq Club of Bahrain follow in second place with three points, while Sport Training Center3 finishes third and exit the tournament without a win.
Both Al-Rayyan and Muharraq Club advanced to the quarterfinals, while Sport Training Center3 bowed out of the topflight competition.
