AMMAN, Jordan — Korea placed second in Pool C after routing Qatar, 25-5 25-4, 25-4, to advance to the next round of the 2nd AVC Asian Women’s U16 Volleyball Championship on Monday at the Prince Hamzah Sports Hall.
The Koreans unleashed 40 attack points, while limiting Qatar to just five kills. They also fired 19 aces to finish the group with a 2-1 record, behind unbeaten China.
Korea enters Pool E with a loss, carrying over the five-set meltdown to unbeaten China.
The Koreans battle Hong Kong, China on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. and Uzbekistan on the next day, hoping to reach the semifinals by finishing the next round as a top two team.
Jang Suin led the Koreans with 13 points on 10 kills and three aces, while Eo Min Seo chipped in 11 points including three aces.
Qatar finished the first round with a 0-3 record before heading to the classification round.
China barged into the next round with one win after sweeping Pool C with a 25-17, 25-22, 25-11 domination of Kazakhstan.
Xu Rui Lin led another collective effort with 13 points off eight spikes, four aces and a block. Chen Rui Han had eight points, while Chen Xin Yi, Sui Yi Miao, and Fan Yuan Sheng added seven points each.
China faces Uzbekistan on Wednesday at 11 a.m. before taking on Hong Kong, China on the next day.
Kazakhstan finished the group with a 1-2 record despite the efforts of Margarita Vagner and Saida Irismatova, who had 16 and 14 points, respectively.

Saodat Egamberdieva led the Uzbeks with 11 points.
Jordan, which finished with a 1-2 record, battles Kazakhstan and Qatar in the classification.
