The Philippines roll out World Championship-themed trains ahead of the event
The campaign to promote the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship reached thousands of daily commuters this week, as the rapid transit system serving Metro Manila, the Philippine capital region, unveiled a tournament-themed train as part of its support for the promotional drive.
The initiative was launched on Tuesday with a ceremonial ride along Line 2 of the Manila Light Rail Transit system, which connects key areas across the city. The specially wrapped train displays event branding both inside and outside the carriages, helping raise visibility ahead of the competition taking place from 12 to 28 September at the Smart Araneta Coliseum and SM Mall of Asia Arena.

“Starting today, people will see promotional materials for the FIVB Men’s World Championship inside and outside of the trains,” said Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) Administrator Atty. Hernando Cabrera. “We have specifically designed one train, we did a train wrap and when you go inside the train, you’ll see promotional materials. It’s one of a kind for a very, very special occasion.”
The promotional ride featured top Filipino volleyball players, including tournament ambassadors Bryan Bagunas and Marck Espejo of the men’s national team, as well as members of the beach volleyball team led by Cherry Ann Rondina. They were joined by Philippine Sports Commission Chairman Patrick Gregorio and Philippine National Volleyball Federation and Asian Volleyball Confederation President Ramon Suzara.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank this partnership with the LRTA which will effectively and intensively promote this major global event,” said Suzara, who acknowledged the presence of the Philippine fan club of the popular K-pop group BOYNEXTDOOR, which will highlight the opening ceremony right after the Philippines-Tunisia match on 12 September at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
“I’m very happy to be part of 2025 FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship,” said Gregorio, who heads the government Task Force for the event. “My background besides sports is tourism, and I am a believer of sports tourism because the biggest tourism events in the world are sports events. This is a prime example. This is a beautiful example.”

The launch comes 59 days before the opening of the 32-nation tournament, which will mark the Philippines’ debut appearance and first time hosting the Men’s World Championship. The campaign continues this week with Set Na Natin ’To! An Electrifying Launch, a full-day fan activation at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall on 18 July, with the main programme scheduled at 18:00 local time.
