Kathmandu, Nepal, December 8, 2024 – The second day of the 2024 CAVA Men’s Club Volleyball Championship witnessed electrifying matches at Tripureswor Hall, with over 2,500 spectators cheering on their favorite teams during each game.
Help Nepal Sports Club (HNC), fresh from narrowly beating Calicut Heroes (CAH) from India in their opening clash, claimed two consecutive wins on Sunday following their dramatic 3-1 (25-14, 25-23, 23-25, 25-16) win against Gandaki Predesh (GND) in the all-Nepalese battle.
Outside hitter Mubashar Raza from Pakistan shone for HNC with an outstanding performance, scoring a match-high 30 points from 21 attacks, 8 blocks and one ace.
Outside hitter Sahil Kumar, imported from India, contributed with 22 points from 21 attacks and one block on the GND’s loss.
The evening match began at 17:00pm local time, featuring Iran Club and Club HDC (HDC) from the Maldives. In a nail-biting five-set thriller, Iran Club pulled off a hard-fought 3-2 (25-16, 22-25, 23-25, 25-20, 15-13) win against the Maldivian side.
Middle blocker Armin Asiaei delivered a stellar performance with 20 points from 11 attacks, 7 blocks and 2 aces for Iran Club.
Opposite Amir Naderi Noureyni and outside hitter Mobin Kolasangiani kept good company to add another 19 and 11 points respectively.
Outside hitter Chirag, an imported player from India, demonstrated exceptional skills to lead all scorers with 23 points from 21 attacks and 2 blocks on the HDC’s loss.
The eight-day tournament continues its single round-robin preliminaries on Monday with two exciting matches. The first match at 14:00pm local time sees Calicut Heroes (India) take on Club HDC (Maldives) and Gandaki (Nepal) go up against Iran Club in the second match at 17:00pm.
