JAPAN

Second-seeded Asami Shiba & Reika Murakami produced a 2-0 (21-17, 22-20) upset of bracket leaders Ren Matsumoto & Non Matsumoto in the women’s final of the Nagoya stop (picture in the main photo; source: @jva_beachvolley) on the Japan Beach Volleyball Tour to top the podium. The third place in the final standings was shared by the two semifinal losers, third-seeded Sakura Ito & Mayu Sawame and fourth-seeded Chika Nakagawa & Miyu Sakamoto.

Kai Kurokawa & Ryuichi Adachi, seeded third in the men’s bracket, emerged as tournament winners after a 2-0 (21-16, 21-17) sweep of the final against the mixed duo of Japan’s Taito Mizumachi and New Zealand’s Thomas Hartles. Second-seeded Takumi Takahashi & Jumpei Ikeda and qualifiers Nassim Malki & Kosuke Fukushima took a joint third place.
