Bangkok, Thailand, March 9, 2025 – Title-holders Nakhon Ratchasima QminC VC captured their consecutive three Volleyball Thailand League titles following their hard-fought five-set victory against archrivals Diamond Food-Fine Chef Samutsakorn in the highly-anticipated men’s final showdown at The Mall Lifestore Bangkhae’s MCC Hall on Sunday evening.
The thrilling 25-19, 25-21, 21-15, 21-25, 15-12 win in the tightly-contested battle handed Nakhon Ratchasima their 10th title with remarkable unbeaten record in the top-level professional volleyball league in Thailand.
The three-peat champions, which brushed off Prasertnikornkul Club 3-0 in the semifinals earlier, had beaten the 2021-22 winners Diamond Food four times in the three-month-long Volleyball Thailand League this season consisting of 3-0 win in the First Leg on January 4, 3-1 in the Second Leg on February 1, 3-0 in the Top 4 round on February 23 and 3-2 in the March 9’s final showdown, the final rematch of the previous season.
Nakhon Ratchasima, strong offensively and defensively with the likes of three Thailand national team players – Kritsada Nilsawai, Anurak Phamram and setter Boonyarit Wongtorn, fielded two import players in the must-win match on Sunday consisting of the highly-skilled Khangal Tamiraa from Mongolia and Doni Haryano, an Indonesia national team player.
Diamond Food were spearheaded by dominant middle blocker Anuchit Phakdeekaew and two import players – outside hitter Abdullah Cam from Turkey and Indonesian Nizar Julfikar, setter from Bhayangkara Presisi, the club champions in Indonesian League in 2024.
As Nakhon Ratchasima lived up to all expectations to take the first two sets 25-19 and 25-21, Diamond Food played consistently with more confidence, making a strong comeback to win the next two sets 25-21, 25-21 to tie it at 2-2. However, the thrilling decider went to the Nakhon Ratchasima’s way as they fared better to win the hard-fought set 15-12 and match.
With the great win on Sunday, Nakhon Ratchasima have already captured 10 Volleyball Thailand League titles. They had won their unprecedented title in the 2007-08 season and continued to repeat it in 2012-13, 2013-14, 2014-15, 2017-18, 2019-20, 2020-21, 2022-23, 2023-24 and 2024-25.
In the third-place playoff clash earlier on Saturday, Prasertnikornkul Club stunned Phitsanulok VC, which succumbed to three straight sets to Diamond Food in the other semifinals, in dramatic four-setter 25-19, 20-25, 27-25, 25-20 to secure the bronze medal.
In the women’s event, Supreme Thipaya Chonburi E.Tech, powered by star spiker Pluemjit Thinkaow, one of the 7 Legends of Thailand volleyball, hard-hitting Kuttika Kaewpin and rising star Warissara Seetalert, pulled off a comfortable straight-set 25-13, 25-20, 25-13 victory against Khonkaen University Khonkaenstar in the final clash to reign supreme on Sunday.
Following the exceptional win on Sunday, the 2017 and 2018 Asian Club champions Supreme, coached by former Thailand team captain Wilavan Apinyapong, also one of the 7 Legends of Thailand volleyball, reclaimed the title, their fourth in the League.
Supreme made their mark to claim their first title in 2017 and repeated the feat the following season. In 2020, they remained in dominant form to win their third title and reclaimed their fourth in 2025.
Meanwhile, defending two-time champions Nakhon Ratchasima QminC VC, which produced disappointing performance and went down 1-3 in their semifinal clash against Khonkaen University Khonkaenstar, had to be content with bronze medal after 3-1 (29-31, 25-21, 25-21, 25-21) triumph over Hand In Hand Rueso RMUTT VC in the Saturday’s third-place playoff.
Thailand Volleyball Association President Mr Somporn Chaibangyang presided over the awards presentation and closing ceremony at MCC Hall inside The Mall Lifestore Bangkhae.
