Bangkok, Thailand, March 21, 2022 – The first meeting of the Central Asian Volleyball Association (CAVA) Events and Referees Committee, one of the seven Permanent Committees appointed following the 1st CAVA Executive Committee Meeting on Zoom on February 7, 2022, was held via video conference on Monday.
CAVA President Mr Mohamed Latheef from Maldives presided over the online meeting, aimed to handle matters related to the events and refereeing matters, responsibilities of the members, and rules and regulations of the events.
Aside from Committee Chairman Mr Masoud Yazdanpanah from Iran, the meeting was also joined by Mr Ahmed Nasheed from Maldives, Mr Morteza Ghanbarafjeh from Iran, Mr Beny Coonghe Santiago from India, Mr Nurgazy Kokcholokov from Kyrgyzstan, Mr Mohammad Shahmiri from Iran and Mr K. Bannahaka from Sri Lanka.
Committee Secretary Ms Sarah Hessaby from Iran, Mr Yusuf Sadegh from Afghanistan, the Research & Development Director of CAVA, and Secretariat Director Mr Abdullah Zuhair were also in attendance.
In the Monday’s meeting, the members briefly introduced themselves to get to know each other and Mr Latheef, in his opening speech, portrayed a very bright future of volleyball in the Central Zone with the presence of professional members of the Zone.
During the meeting, the Committee also discussed important topics regarding the update of the CAVA calendar, the importance of technology and the empowerment of the affiliated National Federations of the zone, the proper implementation of the FIVB Sports Events in the CAVA events as well as the ongoing task of the Committee Members towards its vision of the four-year future plan.
