Centre of Excellence will be dedicated to beach volleyball development across Oceania
Palau’s Koror Beach Volleyball Venue has officially been recognised as a Centre of Excellence (CoE) by the FIVB, following the signing of a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Koror State, the Oceania Zonal Volleyball Association (OZVA), the Palau National Olympic Committee (PNOC) and the Palau Volleyball Federation (PVF).
The MoU was signed by the Governor of Koror State, Eyos Rudimch, FIVB President Fabio Azevedo, PNOC President Frank Kyota, OZVA President and FIVB Executive Vice President Hugh Graham and PVF President and FIVB Executive Vice-President Hila Asanuma. It followed a series of key meetings attended by FIVB leadership during their visit to Palau for the Pacific Mini Games. The initiative also received strong support from the President of the Republic of Palau, Surangel Whipps Jr.
As a Centre of Excellence, the Koror venue will focus on high-performance training and the development of youth, athletes and coaches across Oceania. It will contribute to the lasting legacy of the Palau 2025 Pacific Mini Games and serve as a symbol of unity, knowledge sharing and opportunity for future generations of players
The recognition of the centre is a key milestone in beach volleyball’s development journey and will play a vital role as a regional training and development hub for Oceania.
The signing of the MoU comes at a time when the FIVB and its partners in Palau are actively exploring opportunities to bring a future edition of the FIVB Age Group World Championship to Palau.
