Jakarta, Indonesia, December 14, 2022 – Participating teams of the 2023 Indonesia Volleyball League (Proliga), which is scheduled to take place from January 5 to March 19, 2023, have been confirmed with an inclusion of one men’s team.
The confirmation has been stated by Director of Proliga, Hanny S. Surkatty at a virtual meeting on Wednesday (December 14), with representatives of all teams participating in the 2023 Proliga in attendance.
The new men’s team to join the fray this time is Jakarta STIN BIN, while men’s team Jakarta Bhayangkara Presisi and women’s team Jakarta BIN have been included previously. As a result, there are eight teams to vie for top honour in the men’s event, with six teams strutting their stuff in the women’s competition.
The eight men’s teams comprise Jakarta Lavani Allo Bank, Surabaya BIN Samator, Jakarta BNI 46, Jakarta Pertamina Pertamax, Palembang Bank SumselBabel, Kudus Sukun Badak, Jakarta Bhayangkara Presisi and Jakarta STIN BIN.
Meanwhile, teams in the women’s event consist of Bandung Bank bjb Tandamata, Gresik Petrokimia Pupuk Indonesia, Jakarta Popsivo Polwan, Jakarta Pertamina Fastron, Jakarta Elektrik PLN and Jakarta BIN.
According to Hanny, the addition of one team does not increase the number of host cities where the match will be contested. “Only the number of matches has increased,” said Hanny after the meeting.
Celebrating its 21st year, the highly-anticipating competition will be held in the cities of Bandung, Purwokerto, Palembang, Gresik, Malang, Yogyakarta for the regular first two rounds.
The last four rounds one and two as well as the Grand Finals will be held in Gresik, Semarang, and Solo, with the Grand Final taking place at GOR Among Rogo, Yogyakarta on March 18 and 19, 2023.
Furthermore, the meeting also approved the seven players from each team who would be fielded in the highest caste volleyball competition in the country. Wednesday was the deadline for submitting the seven players from each team.
“Actually the deadline for the handover of seven players was on December 7, 2022. However, since we had to solve administrative problems including the addition of a participating team, then we postpone it,” he said.
From the names that entered, several veteran players were registered with clubs evenly. For example, Surabaya BIN Samator star, Rivan Nurmulki remains with his club.
Meanwhile, Farhan Halim and setter Jasen would play with new club Jakarta STIN BIN. Similarly, the new Jakarta Bhayangkara Presisi Club appeared big names including Rendy Tamamilang and Nizar Zulfikar.
In the women’s event, a player from West Java, Yolla Yuliana, who used to be a member of Bandung Bank bjb Tandamata, has registered with Jakarta Pertamina Fastron, while Wilda Siti Nurfadillah and MVP of Proliga 2022, Nandita Ayu, remain with Bank bjb.
“The 16-player team roster will be completed ahead of the start of the Proliga in Bandung,” said Hanny, himself Chairman of Competitions in PBVSI.
Another decision made in the meeting was the 2023 Proliga kickoff to be carried out on December 30, 2022 in Jakarta.
Hanny also appealed to local players and officials from each team to complete requirements such as ID cards, photos for ID cards and vaccines 1, 2 and boster 1 before Proliga 2023 starts.
“That’s condition for local players and officials. As foreign players must have Work Permit and ITC (International Transfer Certificate), only Work Permit is required from foreign coaches,” Hanny added.
All Proliga 2023 matches will be broadcast live on Moji TV and vidio.com from Emtek.
