Manama, Bahrain, May 16, 2023 – Qatar’s mighty Police Sports Team handed Aspiring Volleyball Team of Hong Kong, China another loss in the 2023 Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championship following a comfortable 25-16, 25-6, 25-22 win over the lower-ranked side at Issa Bin Rashed Hall 1 on Tuesday.
With three victories in succession, the Qataris moved up to the quarterfinals with 9 points, keeping their semifinals hopes alive.
Papemaguette Diagne’s splendid partnership with Abdulwahid Osman proved too much for Aspiring Volleyball Team in this match, which turned out to be a one-way traffic.
Papemaguette Diagne chipped in with 13 points including 10 attacks from 16 attempts for Police Sports Team, while Oliver Venno added 11 points including 8 deadly attacks. Lung Lam Wai topped the Aspiring Volleyball Team’s charge with 11 points.
Following three losses in a row, Aspiring Volleyball Team look certain of finishing fourth place in Pool D and as a result, they were relegated to classification round heading for the 9th-16th playoffs at the end of the pool round-robin preliminaries on Tuesday.
