The Commission held its annual meeting in a hybrid format this week
The FIVB Beach Volleyball Commission discussed upcoming events during its annual meeting which was held this week via videoconference with the President of the Commission, Vicente Araujo, and its Secretary, Edward Drakich, joining from the FIVB Headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland.
A number of important topics was discussed during the meeting, including updates on upcoming events and the reports from the previous season. The success of the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships in Italy was highlighted as members also looked ahead with anticipation to next year’s edition of the prestigious event in Mexico. Meanwhile, the preparations for the Olympic Games Paris 2024 were also on the agenda.
Opening the meeting, FIVB President Dr Ary S. Graça F° said:
“What an incredible year 2022 has been for beach volleyball! We witnessed the highly successful World Championships in Rome, Italy and the debut season of the Beach Volleyball Pro Tour, our annual circuit across all five continents.
“The success of our beach volleyball events and our credibility, ensure that we have hosts already lined up for future editions of our events. The next Beach Volleyball World Championships 2023 will be staged in Mexico and the 2025 edition in Australia. Another important event to look forward to is the Olympic Games Paris 2024. The iconic location in front of the famous Eiffel Tower will be the perfect backdrop for our sport.”
The FIVB Commission meetings will continue next week with the Legal Commission on 12 December, Medical Commission on 13 December and Rules of the Game and Refereeing Commission on 14 December.
