Bangkok, Thailand, May 24, 2024 – With 25 days to go for the women’s Volleyball Nations League 2024 Finals, Thailand’s preparations to host the world-class volleyball spectacle are in full swing, with the joint meeting being held to properly check readiness and the highly-effective assessment of working groups assigned.
Thailand Volleyball Association President Mr Somporn Chaibangyang and TVA Honorary President Mr Shanrit Wongprasert, himself AVC Executive Director, jointly chaired the two-and a-half-hour meeting at the Conference Room inside the Sports Authority of Thailand Building, with representatives from relevant task groups including safety and security units as well as those responsible for traffic, training and competition venues, pre-match protocol, fan zone, media accreditation and ceremonies in attendance to share their perspectives and discuss crucial issues in an effort to make the VNL 2024 Finals thoroughly prepared and a memorable success.
The women’s VNL 2024 Finals will take place at the iconic 8,000-seater Indoor Stadium Huamark which had already hosted VNL preliminary matches in 2018, 2019 and 2023, as well as a number of FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix events between 2008 and 2017 including the 2016 World Grand Prix Finals.
The charismatic Thailand national team, as the host side, and the seven best teams after the three-week preliminary phase are set to contest action-packed encounters and captivate audiences worldwide with their exhiralating fast-paced actions in the volleyball phenomenon from June 20 to 23. Volleyball enthusiasts from all over the world and Thailand in particular are also set to create a real celebration in the four-day competition which sees the last eight matches of the women’s VNL season take place to determine the top three teams on the podium.
Mr Somporn welcomed all participants, citing that the joint meeting was called to check how far working groups have done potentially and what challenges or obstacles they might face a long the way.
After that, Mr Shanrit has raised several issues for prompt discussion among the responsible working groups including the VNL 2024 Finals ticket information, securities, fan zone, pre-match show during the gold-medal match on June 23, VIP room decoration and food and beverage.
Regarding ticketing and reservation, the meeting was informed that the ticket reservation can be made through www.thaiticketmajor.com on Saturday, May 25 from noon onwards. As volleyball is one of the Thailand’s most popular sports and Thai fans have always gone crazy over volleyball, tickets are expected to be sold out within half an hour.
Police and the organisers have also agreed to the increased security measures at the venues and teams’ hotel, as police escort will assist in transporting teams and VIPs from hotel to competition venue at Indoor Stadium Huamark and vice versa.
Mr Shanrit also kept the meeting updated on the requested matters from FIVB and Volleyball World to ensure everything is on the right track ahead of the competition.
Meanwhile, TVA Technical Chairman Mr Kiattipong Radchatagriengkai, himself AVC Secretary General, informed the meeting of the three-day activities for the FIVB Volleyball Foundation.
He explained that around 320 U12 and U14 school kids will assemble on June 20 and 21 for indoor and outdoor activities as they will attend volleyball clinic at the football field adjacent to the Sports Authority of Thailand Building to be conducted by three Ambassadors consisting of legendary Chinese volleyball player Feng Kun, an Olympic champion at Athens 2004, and two former Thailand national team players Nootsara Tomkom and Pleumjit Thinkaow. These kids also stand a chance of separately playing in 20 (4×4) courts provided in this campaign for kids.
In addition, these kids are likely to play the part of the Clinic for the VNL 2024 Finals on June 19 and the drawing of lots for the Paris 2024 Volleyball Olympic Games, due to be held at Indoor Stadium Huamark on the same day.
