REFEREE CLINIC CONDUCTED AHEAD OF ASIAN MEN’S CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP IN IRAN

Yazd, Iran, September 7, 2024 – In anticipation of the 2024 Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championship set to begin on Sunday, comprehensive referee clinic was conducted on Saturday at Shahediyeh Hall in Yazd. The sessions, held in both theoretical and practical phases, were designed to ensure all referees are up to date with the latest regulations and equipped with the necessary skills to officiate the championship efficiently.

The clinic was attended by eight international referees, along with thirty local referees, including line judges and E-Scorers, ensuring a well-rounded training experience. The international referees include:

1. Mr. Hamed Aghabarari Souteh (Afghanistan)

2. Mr. Indra Muflih (Indonesia)

3. Mr. Ebrahim Firouzi (Iran)

4. Mr. Alireza Gahrib (Iran)

5. Mr. Mousa Salim Azeez (Iraq)

6. Mr. Akhmetov Aidos (Kazakhstan)

7. Mr. Faisal Alshamiri (Kuwait)

8. Mr. Fahad Mohammed Al Awadi (Qatar)

Referee Delegate Mr Mohammad Shahmiri and Sub-Committee Member Mr Adel Harbi jointly conducted the clinic, providing critical updates on the latest FIVB regulations. The sessions included a thorough briefing on the integration of enhanced video check systems, designed to ensure more precise decision-making during matches.

Commenting on the successful completion of the clinic, Mohammad Shahmiri expressed his satisfaction with the quality of the referees, stating, “I am very delighted with the good quality of the referees here.” He further highlighted the added value of the upgraded video check systems, noting, “We are using two complementary options for video checks, which will improve the accuracy of our decisions. I am confident that all the referees are proficient in using this technology.”

The Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championship, the continent’s qualification pathway for the FIVB Men’s Club World Championship later this year, is scheduled to commence on Sunday, September 8, and with well-trained referees in place, the competition promises to showcase high standards of officiating.
