SEA Games Beach Volleyball Day 5: Teams get ready for the finale 

December 17, 2025, Chonburi, Thailand – Hosts Thailand swept the Preliminary Round of Women’s Volleyball at the 33rd Southeast Asian Games after their defeat of the Philippines at the Sports Arena in Jomtien Beach. 

Thailand picked up three points on Wednesday afternoon as Worapeerachayakorn/Naraphornrapat (THA1) took 2-0 (21-12, 21-17) over Rondina/Pons(PHI1). Thai fans at the stands continued to cheer for Udomchavee/Numwong (THA2) as they won 2-0 (21-17, 21-19) over Rodriguez/Villapando (PHI2). 

Earlier, Indonesia firmed up their standings and their stake for the bronze medal match, after claiming a 2-0 card on Malaysia.  Desi/Nur Atika (INA1) beat Aina/Aishah (MAS1), 2-0 (21-11, 21-12). Josephine/Bernadette Shella (INA2) likewise won straight, 2-0 (21-11, 22-20) against Tasha/Auni (MAS2). 

Even with Wednesday’s results, Thailand and the Philippines are confirmed to meet in the gold medal match scheduled on Friday, December 19, as the two best ranked teams in the after their single round-robin assignments.  

In the final day of the Preliminary Round on Thursday, December 18, Indonesia will play against Vietnam, which is expected to be a preview of the bronze medal match contenders. 

In the men’s competition, Singapore defeated Laos, boasting of a 2-0 card to progress into the 5th-6th final against the Philippines. 

Sasikumar R./Eng C.F.R. (SGP1) established a strong start, sweeping M. Phithak/Chantaphone (LAO1), 2-0 (21-10, 21-18). 

However,  the second teams extended the fierce contest to a decider. Phommachan/Chansabab (LAO2) pushed their opponents Gan L.J.Y./Soon D.W.S. (SGP2) to a tough match, but later fell to defeat in the tie-break, 2-1 (21-19, 13-21, 15-12).
