December 15, 2025, Chonburi, Thailand – Hosts Thailand, Malaysia , Indonesia and Vietnam, are the Final Four teams in contention of the gold medal at the 33rd Southeast Asian Games being held in Chonburi Province.
Thailand confirmed their semifinals slot on Monday morning after taking three points to bring them to the top of Pool A. K.Dunwinit/M.Wachirawit (THA1) defeated Sasikumar R./Eng C.F.R. (SGP1), 2-0 (21-12, 21-17). Thailand 2 Netitorn/T. Poravid followed up with another straight-sets match, 2-0 (21-11, 21-13) over Gan L.J.Y./Soon D.W.S. (SGP2).
Malaysia, ranked second in Pool A, likewise progress to the semifinal phase.
Vietnam collected three points in Pool B by defeating Laos. N.A. Tuan/L.H. Y (VIE1) swept M. Phithak/Chantaphone (LAO1), 2-0 (21-9, 21-7). T.V. Viet/Nguyen Lam Toi (VIE2) completed the sweep with 2-0 (21-10, 21-15) over Phommachan/Chansabab (LAO2).
Titleholders Indonesia knocked SEA Games 2023 bronze medalists Philippines out of the race after succeeding in the Golden Match. Bintang/Sofyan (INA1) established their dominance with a 2-0 win (21-17, 21-9) over Rosales/Varga (PHI1). The Philippines’ second team Abdilla/Buytrago bounced back with 2-0 (23-21, 21-18) on Yosi/Danang (INA2) to force the decider.
Indonesia reverted to their first team Akbar Bintang and Efendi Sofyan Rachman, while Philippines stayed on with second team Alnakran Abdilla and James Buytrago as play resumed in Court 2. Bintang/Sofyan succeeded with a 2-0 result (21-17, 21-13) over Abdilla/Buytrago to head to the top of Pool B.
As the two best ranked teams after play in Pool B, Indonesia and Vietnam earn the right to the semifinals scheduled on Thursday, December 18 at Chonburi’s Jomtien Beach.
