Wuyuan, China, November 3, 2022 – Shanghai defeated Shandong in a tense 3-1 victory on Thursday for their fifth straight win in the 2022-2023 Chinese Men’s Volleyball Super League.
After a balanced start, Shanghai jumped to a four-point lead and won the first set 25-18.
The second set saw both sides trade the lead several times until Shanghai got the set point first and packed the set by 25-23.
The third set was tied at 20-20 but Shandong gained the upper hand later and went on to take the set 25-22. This was the first set Shanghai dropped this season.
After a brief adjustment, Shanghai won the fourth set 25-20 to remain unbeaten in Group B.
Shanghai’s Bartosz Bednorz scored a game-high 21 points, while middle blocker Zhang Zhejia and opposite Wu Pengzhi pocketed 14 and 12 points respectively. Opposite Wang Jingyi led Shandong with 21 points.
In other actions, Baoding eased past Yunnan 25-15, 25-15, 25-13, and Nanjing overcame Tianjin in a five-set thriller 23-25, 25-22, 20-25, 25-18, 15-10.
