SHANGLUO, CHINA TO HOST FIVB U19 BEACH VOLLEYBALL WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS 2024

32 teams per gender will compete at the tournament next year

The next edition of the FIVB U19 Beach Volleyball World Championships will be hosted in Shangluo, China from 27 August to 1 September 2024 with 32 of the world’s most talented U19 beach volleyball duos per gender battling it out for the ultimate title.

Following the open bidding process, five nations from three continents expressed their interest in hosting this important age-group tournament which offers the opportunity for talented young pairs to perform on the world stage. Ultimately, China has been confirmed as the host for this prestigious event.

The competition is returning to China for the second time, with Nanjing having successfully staged the 2018 edition.  Notably, 2024 will be the first time the event is hosted in central China, surrounded by the Qinling mountains.

Shangluo boasts a rich history, tracing its roots back to 257 AD. Renowned for its natural reserve, the city enjoys an impressive 330 days of excellent air quality and great weather. Shangluo also successfully hosted the  Chinese National Beach Volleyball Championships in 2023 in a packed stadium with a total of 15,000 people over four days of action.

The 2000-seat centre court of the FIVB U19 Beach Volleyball World Championships will be situated in front of the Qinling Musuem with four side competition courts and two warm-up courts located within walking distance.

The tournament will welcome 32 teams per gender in the main draw divided into eight pools of four teams each. The pool phase will be played in a round robin format, with the top three teams per pool then advancing to the 24-team playoff in elimination format.

“Age-group World Championships are incredibly important for the development of young athletes and provide a great platform for them to showcase their talents on the world stage.”
