Jiangmen, China, December 24, 2021 – Shenzhen joined Fujian, Zhejiang and Beijing in winning their Christmas Eve matches in the Chinese Women’s Volleyball Super League.
Serbian Dajana Boskovic, Zhang Yichan and Yang Wenjin succeeded in attacking successively for Shenzhen in the first two sets 25-17, 25-17, but in the third set, Sichuan regained their form to once take the lead in the middle of the game. However, Shenzhen played steadily, winning another set 25-22 for a thrilling 3-0 win.
In the second match, Fujian had outstanding offensive and defensive performance with stuff blocking. Lin Yuexin and Zheng Yixin contributed successful attack points to the team many times to hand Fujian a straight-set 25-20, 25-18, 25-14 victory.
The other encounter saw Zhejiang make consecutive mistakes in passing and serving for a poor start in the first set, which they fell behind 1-6 against Henan. However, Zhejiang clawed their way back to win the hard-fought first set 25-22.
In the second game, Zhejiang made an effort to widen the point difference in the middle of the game, and once led the opponents by 11 points before winning 25-18.
Henan struggled stubbornly in the third set. Cai Xiaoqing performed well and helped Henan tie the score at 22-22. Both sides fought it all-out, but in the home stretch, Henan fared better to take the closely-contested set 29-27 to narrow the lead to 1-2.
In the fourth set, the score fell into a stalemate again. The score went all the way to 25-25. However, Zhejiang’s Song Liqi attacked continuously to score two key points for the Zhejiang’s 27-25 win in the thrilling set and 3-1 match.
In the day’s last match, Beijing took the first set 25-19 but Hebei fought back hard to win the second set 25-22 for a 1-1 tie. Subsequently, Beijing maintained their poise to win the next two sets 25-22 and 25-19.
Saturday will be the 20th match day. Tianjin Bohai Bank will challenge Jiangsu, with Guangdong facing Shanghai and Shandong up against Liaoning.
