Muscat, Oman, July 23, 2024 – Oman’s Dr Shihab Aldin Ahmed al Riyami, one of the AVC Coaches Committee Members, and American international lecturer Gordan Mayforth will deliver a national programme and development strategy for the Chinese Taipei Volleyball Federation titled ‘CTVBA Coach Course’.
The course will be divided into three phases as the initial programme will be held at National Changhua University of Education from Monday until Thursday. The following sessions will be held during July 27 to 30, while the concluding programme will take place from August 1 to 4.
The course will target to elevate the level of national coaches at Chinese Taipei and to keep them updated with the latest in the world of volleyball in various sports sciences, physical aspects, modern technical and tactical aspects of global volleyball.
The Chinese Taipei Volleyball Federation and for its second consecutive year has invited many international lecturers with significant technical experience in training and education, as well as global coaching figures in volleyball.

“Many thanks for the Chinese Taipei Volleyball Federation for their confidence and trust to present this essential course to the national coaches beside International lecturer Gordan Mayforth from USA. The programme will include the establishment of many sports workshops and seminars, both practical and theoretical, aimed at developing knowledge and enhancing the technical skills of coaches in the training field.
The lectures cover many important topics including modern tactics in men’s and women’s volleyball, training planning, physical preparation in volleyball, various warm-up types in volleyball, modern educational theories, and advanced training in basic volleyball skills like serving, receiving, blocking, and attacking,” he said.
“The programme will comprise many theoretical and practical sessions under the supervision of the National Volleyball Federation with participation of the national volleyball coaches. The Chinese Taipei Federation is ranked 46th in the International Volleyball Federation and among the top 15 teams in Asia, making a distinguished presence in all championships and competitions of the Asian Volleyball Confederation,” he added.
“This programme will act as a significant step to assist the local Volleyball Federation’s strategy regarding providing development programme for qualifying and improving national volleyball coaches across all sectors namely national team coaches, sports clubs, universities, and educational colleges,” he concluded.
