SNOW VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENTS HELD IN FINLAND AND JAPAN

Recap of recent domestic snow volleyball events

• Pettymys Vantaa snatch sixth consecutive Fullmoon Snow Volley victory in Finland
• YGC and Kofu win women’s and men’s trophies at Yamanashi Snow Volleyball Tournament in Japan

FINLAND

The 10th edition of the annual Fullmoon Snow Volley tournament in Finland was held on the courts in Kouvola last week with the team of Pettymys Vantaa winning it for the sixth consecutive time. With Juho Hasselgren, Miikka Putkonen, Olli Nurmes and Ville Heikkila on the squad, they cruised through the tournament undefeated. In the gold medal showdown, they mastered a 2-0 (15-10, 15-10) victory over surprise finalists Hidas Mutta Kankea Kouvola. Let It Snow Espoo completed the podium after battling out a 2-1 (15-13, 15-17, 15-13) win over Komodos Kouvola in the third-place match. A total of six teams took part in the tournament.

JAPAN

The Yamanashi Snow Volleyball Tournament (pictured in the main photo; credits: Snow Volleyball Japan) was held on March 9 at the Sun Meadows Kiyosato ski resort in the city of Hokuto in Japan for the second year in a row. The women’s competition was won by the team of YGC. The squads of Hikawa High School Yamanashi and Seishu High School Ichikawamisato completed the podium. The A and B teams of Kofu Technical High School finished first and second, respectively, in the men’s tournament, joined on the podium by third-placed Sawashou Minami-Alps.
