Pasig City, Philippines, April 20, 2025 – Creamline Cool Smashers (PHI), Taipower (TPE), BAIC Motor Volleyball Club (CHN), and PLDT High Speed Hitters (PHI) registered wins against their respective match-ups, all in straight-sets fashion, during the opening day of the 1st AVC Women’s Volleyball Champions League at PhilSports Arena.
In Pool A, crowd-drawers Creamline Cool Smashers of the Philippines collected their first win, 3-0 (29-27, 25-20, 25-19) against Al Naser Club of Jordan. The home team led the charge in all fields with 43 attacks and 6 blocks, further stunning the opponents with 13 service winners.
Chinese Taipei’s Taipower pulled off a 3-0 match (25-10, 25-16, 25-14) against Hong Kong, China’s Hip Hing Women’s Volleyball Team in Pool B. Similarly, Taipower performed ferociously from the service line, posting a total of 12 aces in the match.
China’s BAIC Motor Volleyball Club also captured a 3-0 (28-26, 25-22, 25-19) match on Sunday, as they won against Iran’s Saipa Tehran in Pool C. Jin Yie and Lu Yufei contributed with double-digit markers, scoring 14 points and 13 points respectively.
In Pool D, Philippines’ PLDT High Speed Hitters completed Sunday’s straight-sets schedule, with their 3-0 defeat (25-19, 25-12, 25-12) of Australia’s Queensland Pirates. Savannah Davison (14 points), Mika Reyes (11 points) and Wilma Salas (10 points) comprised the PLDT High Speed Hitters’ triumvirate of double-digit scorers. Setter Angela.
The Preliminary Round concludes on Tuesday, followed by Rest and Recovery on Wednesday. The quarterfinals are scheduled on Thursday and Friday, to determine the semifinal match-ups set for Saturday.
Sunday, April 27, 2025, will see the first AVC Women’s Volleyball Champions League titleholders crowned, who along with the runners-up, are set to receive direct qualification berths to the FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club World Championship.
