After an exciting start of the new men’s Daido Life SV.League in Japan last week, now the 10 participating teams are ready for their second double headers coming up on Saturday and Sunday, October 19 and 20.

The table leaders after the first leg, Wolfdogs Nagoya, who were the only team to start off with two three-point victories, are set to have their home opener this weekend. After collecting two four-set wins at Tokyo Great Bears with a solid contribution from Dutch star Nimir Abdel-Aziz, they will now welcome Kento Miyaura, Ricardo Lucarelli, Torey DeFalco and the rest of JTEKT Stings Aichi’s stellar squad to the Entrio at 16:05 local time (07:05 UTC) on Saturday and at 15:05 (06:05) on Sunday. Stings started well last Saturday, with a four-set home win over Nagano Tridents, but then suffered an upset in the second match with the same opponent, also in four sets. These results put them in fifth place in the current standings ahead of their first away trip of the season.

Second-placed Osaka Bluteon, who had an amazing start on the road, with two upsets of defending champions Suntory Sunbirds Osaka, are about to play in front of the home fans at the Panasonic Arena for the first time this season. Their visitors, Hiroshima Thunders, arrive in Hirakata after their home debut, at which they exchanged victories with Toray Arrows Shizuoka and now stand seventh in the table. As opposites Yuji Nishida and Felipe Roque go face to face on Saturday and Sunday at 14:05 (05:05), it will also be exciting to watch the Cuban duel between outside hitters Miguel Lopez and Oreol Camejo.

The third team that celebrated two wins at the start of the season and the only one to do so at home, Nippon Steel Sakai Blazers, are now looking forward to their first away games as they travel to meet sixth-placed Nagano Tridents at the ANC Arena on Saturday at 14:05 (05:05) and on Sunday at 13:05 (04:05). Last weekend, Sakai took five points from the matches against their visitors Voreas Hokkaido.
Toray Arrows Shizuoka, fourth in the standings after the first leg, will host bottom-of-the-table Tokyo Great Bears at the Konohana Arena for a double header this weekend with both games starting at 14:05 (05:05).
It will be very exciting to see how the star-studded squad of the champions in three of the last four seasons, Suntory Sunbirds Osaka, reacts after losing twice at home at the start of the new season. They will now travel for a double header with another winless team, Voreas Hokkaido. The two sides are neighbours in the bottom half of the table. Separated on point ratios, Voreas are in eighth place, while Suntory are in ninth. They will open the men’s SV.League weekend on Saturday at 13:35 (14:35) and play again at the same time on Sunday. The matches are at the Recruit Staffing RICK&SUE Asahikawa Gymnasium.
