TEAMS, CONTROL, ORGANISERS CONVENE IN GTM AHEAD OF CAVA MEN’S U23 CHAMPIONSHIP IN BANGLADESH

Bangkok, December 22, 2022 – The General Technical Meeting was held on Wednesday, one day ahead of the official kickoff of the 2022 CAVA Men’s U23 Volleyball Championship between December 22 and 26 at Shaheed Suhrawardi National Indoor Stadium in Mirpur, Dhaka, Bangladesh.

The championship has attracted four teams consisting of Sri Lanka, Nepal, Kyrgyzstan and hosts Bangladesh to strut their stuff and vie for top honour. Teams will play a single round-robin competition, with best-ranked team after the first round taking on the fourth-placed side in the first semifinal match and teams finishing second and third places battling it out in the second clash.

The Wednesday’s meeting was a unique format, combining management and technical sections and bringing all the key control officials on one stage. Mr Santiago Beny Coonghe from India, Vice Chairman of the Control Committee and Referee Delegate, chaired the meeting, with CC Member Mr Azizur Rahman, Technical Delegate Mr Ahmed Nasheed, VIS Delegate Mr Morteza Afjehee and representatives from Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Kyrgyzstan in attendance to hear the rules and regulations.

The meeting ended on positive note, with team representatives clearly understanding the relevant competition matters and ready to kick off their campaigns the following day.
