Tehran, Iran, January 26, 2021 – Tehran Saipa were crowned the eventual champions at the Iran Women’s Volleyball Super League at Hall of Volleyball Federation on Tuesday, a week before the curtain of the 2020-21 season came down, iranvolleyball.com reported.
In their match against Qazvin Shahrdari, Tehran Saipa pulled out a comfortable straight-set 25-7, 25-12, 25-17 win to record their invincible run through the entire season and emerge as the champions for the first-time ever in the League history.
Their next match against Paykan would make no difference in their ranking.
Mahsa Saberi tallied a game-high 16 points for Tehran Saipa, while Aylar Saeidi bagged six points for Qazvin Shahrdari.
The loss has relegated Qazvin Shahrdari to the fourth place, while Paykan and Zob Ahan keep their hopes of winning second place alive, depending on their matches on Thursday, January 28.
In the last 19 editions of the Iran Women’s Volleyball Super League, Zob Ahan became the most accomplished team, having three titles to their name. Their dramatic 3-1 (25-18, 23-25, 25-17, 30-28) victory over Tehran Paykan has increased their chances on Thursday when they have to go up against Qazvin Shahrdari.
