THAILAND BEAT UZBEKISTAN IN TOTALLY LOPSIDED BATTLE FOR THREE CONSECUTIVE WINS AT ASIAN WOMEN’S U16 CHAMPIONSHIP

Hangzhou, China, July 4, 2023 – Thailand made it three in succession at the 1st Asian Women’s U16 Volleyball Championship following a lopsided 25-4, 25-7, 25-7 win against Uzbekistan at Linping Sports Centre Gymnasium on Tuesday afternoon.

Though losing the very first point through their attacking error, the Thais swiftly found their touch later on to score 7 points in a row for a remarkable 7-1 lead. Dealing with relentless attacks from Thailand, the Uzbeks found it too busy to build up their defense in spite of their utmost effort. Captain Thatsanawan Phaibun carried out an ace serve to help Thailand clinch the first set in a completely one-sided affair 25-4.

Uzbekistan played with more patience and persistence in the beginning of the second set, keeping up with the opponents till 4-4 tie. However, with Thatsanawan produced well-placed serves, Thailand again started to produce the goods and dominate the rest of the set.  Ankomah Serah finished the set off 25-7 with an ace serve.

Serah Ankomah continued her aggressive service in the third set, facilitating Thailand to a fancy start with 5-0 lead. The persistent Uzbeks fought hard to grasp every opportunity to earn points. However, the well-trained Thais showed no mercy to overwhelm the opponents with multi-dotted attacks and seal the deal 25-7.

Thailand’s captain and opposite Phaibun Thatsanawan chipped in with 13 points from 8 attacks and 5 aces, while Natchaya Tahae and Chanidapa Chongcharoen scored 8 points apiece.
