Bangkok, Thailand, May 28, 2025 – Thailand is set to make volleyball history as the country prepares to host the FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship for the first time this year from August 22 to September 7. The announcement was officially made on Wednesday by the Thailand Volleyball Association (TVA), marking a major milestone in Thai sporting history and elevating the country’s profile on the global stage.
This landmark event is the result of a collaborative effort between the TVA, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT), the National Sports Development Fund, and Thai Beverage Public Company Limited (ThaiBev), the event’s Main Local Partner.
The press conference, held at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, was attended by high-ranking officials, corporate partners, representatives from PPTV HD 36, AIS PLAY, members of the media, and prominent figures in the sporting community.
This hosting opportunity was made possible by government support, with an initial THB 200 million allocated from the National Sports Development Fund and an additional THB450 million approved by the Cabinet on May 13, 2025, totaling THB650 million. The support underscores the government’s commitment to making Thailand a hub for international sporting events.
“This tournament is expected to generate up to THB8.5 billion in economic impact, boosting tourism, job creation, and the local economy,” said Mr Krisda Tanterdtit, Secretary to the Minister of Tourism and Sports. “It is also a chance to showcase Thailand’s potential to a global audience of over 3 billion viewers through live broadcasts.”
In line with Thailand’s sustainability goals, the championship has been designated a Green Heart Event (GHE), an eco-conscious model event aligned with the Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) Economy Model. The TVA is working in collaboration with the Sport Management Association of Thailand and the Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization to ensure the event meets sustainability criteria for resource efficiency and environmental friendliness.
The topflight championship will feature 32 national teams from around the world, divided into eight pools of four teams for the pool round-robin preliminaries. Matches will take place across four host cities representing Thailand’s key regions: Chiang Mai at International Convention and Exhibition Center (North), Nakhon Ratchasima at Chatchai Hall (Northeast), Phuket at 4,000-seat Gymnasium (South) and Bangkok at Hua Mark Indoor Stadium (Central). The Round of 16, quarterfinals, semifinals, and finals will all be held at Hua Mark Indoor Stadium in Bangkok.
Thailand Volleyball Association President Mr Somporn Chaibangyang noted:
“This is a proud moment for Thailand and for Thai volleyball. It’s an opportunity to promote national pride, tourism, and economic activity, and to demonstrate our readiness and capacity to host world-class sporting events. Venue inspections have been conducted by the TVA in coordination with the FIVB and Volleyball World, ensuring that all locations meet international standards. Ticket sales officially open on May 28, 2025, at 3:00pm local time via ThaiTicketMajor.
“Additionally, weekly online meetings have been held to coordinate preparations. To ensure the event meets international standards and to promote a lively cheering atmosphere, the TVA has received kind support from ThaiBev, with Est Cola sponsoring the official theme song for the tournament.”
ThaiBev, through its Est Cola brand, continues its legacy of over 30 years of support for Thai volleyball. As Main Local Partner of the 2025 Women’s World Championship, Est Cola is playing a central role in bringing the tournament to life.
“This championship is more than a sports event, it’s a celebration of national unity and Thai spirit,” said Ms Suporn Denpaisarn, Vice President of Marketing (Non-Alcoholic Beverages), ThaiBev. “Through our campaign, ‘Serve Est, Cheer Thailand to be AWESOME,’ we aim to ignite passion and pride among volleyball fans across the country.”
The campaign will include surprise fan experiences and developmental programs for young athletes, reinforcing Est Cola’s commitment to growing the sport sustainably and inspiring the next generation.
To ensure nationwide access to the championship, PPTV HD Channel 36 and AIS PLAY have been appointed as the official domestic broadcasters.
Mr. Pornchai Phunlamlert, Acting CEO of PPTV HD 36, stated:
“We are honored to broadcast this world-class event to Thai audiences. PPTV will air 28 matches live, including all Thai national team games and top matchups. All 64 matches will be televised, with non-live games shown as recorded broadcasts. From the Round of 16 onwards, every match will be broadcast live.”
