THE FIVB ANNOUNCES LANDMARK PARTNERSHIP WITH FUKUOKA PREFECTURE, OCEANIA ZONAL VOLLEYBALL ASSOCIATION AND JAPAN VOLLEYBALL ASSOCIATION

The partnership outlines a significant collaboration that will not only advance the sport of volleyball in Asia and Oceania but also contribute to the sport’s global development

The FIVB on Wednesday signed a groundbreaking partnership with Fukuoka Prefecture, the Oceania Zonal Volleyball Association (OZVA) and the Japan Volleyball Association (JVA), marking a significant step towards the development of volleyball and beach volleyball in Asia and Oceania. 

The partnership outlines a comprehensive framework for youth development in the region, aiming to establish volleyball as the number one family sport globally.  

Key components of the partnership between Fukuoka Prefecture, the FIVB, OZVA and JVA, include initiatives such as player and coach development projects, exchange programmes for youth athletes and technical officials as well as additional competition opportunities.  

FIVB President Dr Ary S. Graça F° said: “At the FIVB, our mission is to ensure volleyball and beach volleyball continue to grow in relevance and accessibility worldwide. This partnership with Fukuoka Prefecture, OZVA and JVA will no doubt help accelerate youth development in Asia and Oceania. The programmes in Fukuoka will not only elevate the standard of play in the region but also strengthen volleyball’s standing as the premier family sport across the globe.” 

Governor of Fukuoka prefecture, Hattori Seitaro stated; “Fukuoka Prefecture is honoured to be partnering with these organisations and to be part of such a fantastic initiative. We are excited to welcome athletes, coaches and teams from around the world to our programmes in Fukuoka Prefecture and we look forward to contributing to the global growth of volleyball and beach volleyball.” 

OZVA President Hugh Graham added: “This partnership opens new doors for volleyball development in Oceania. Our collaboration with the FIVB, Fukuoka Prefecture and JVA will provide our athletes and coaches with even more opportunities to learn, develop and compete at the highest levels. We are excited for what is to come!” 

JVA President Shunichi Kawai concluded: “The Japan Volleyball Association is proud to come together with the FIVB, Fukuoka Prefecture and OZVA in this ambitious and important initiative. The collaboration will be crucial in our efforts to develop the next generation of volleyball talent in Asia and Oceania, and to inspire future champions of the sport.” 

With the combined efforts of the FIVB, Fukuoka Prefecture, OZVA and JVA, the future of volleyball is brighter than ever.
