Tashkent, Uzbekistan, June 6, 2024 – The CAVA Boys’ and Girls’ Volleyball Championships are in full swing at Jar Stadium, showcasing intense matches in two adjacent halls. The event, drawing large crowds, highlights the region’s burgeoning talent and competitive spirit.
On the third day of single pool play matches, the boys’ teams from Iran and Kazakhstan remain unbeaten, demonstrating their prowess and setting the stage for a highly anticipated showdown. In the girls’ competition, the Iranian team are leading the charge, aiming to secure the title of the strongest volleyball nation in the zone.
The match between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan captured the day’s excitement, with CAVA President Mr Mohammed Latheef and other high-ranking officials in attendance. The stakes were high as the losing team faced elimination from the Asian Championship contention.
A packed stadium, brimming with enthusiastic Uzbek and Kazakh fans, witnessed Kazakhstan to overpower the host team 3-1. This victory ensured Kazakhstan, alongside Pakistan, the zone’s two berths for the Asian Men’s U18 Volleyball Championship.
All teams will take a much-needed rest on June 7, resuming their rivalry on June 8. This pause offers teams the opportunity to regroup and strategize for the remaining matches.
Sarah Hessaby, CC President for this event, praised the significant improvements since last year’s CAVA Championship. “The advancements made in hosting and organization are remarkable. Teams, especially Iran, who participated last year, have noticed these positive changes. This signifies the empowerment within our zone, and we must continue to provide more opportunities,” Hessaby stated.
In preparation for the event, Mohammad Shahmiri and Morteza Afjeh trained local personnel, including VIS staff and scorers. Despite being new to the system, their performance has been outstanding, showcasing their dedication and capability.
