Tianjin Bohai Bank claimed their fifth consecutive and 16th overall title in China Women’s Volleyball League after claiming victory over Shanghai Bright Ubest in the best-of-five championship series, earning three wins in four matches played.
The final playoff began with Shanghai’s 3-1 (25-23, 25-22, 16-25, 25-23) home win on 23 January, but Tianjin reacted with three victories in a row – 3-0 (25-18, 25-22, 25-16) at home on 27 January, 3-0 (25-21, 25-15, 25-16) at home on 30 January, and 3-1 (25-19, 25-11, 22-25, 25-15) in Shanghai on 3 February.
Tianjin’s international star outside hitter Li Yingying (pictured in the main photo; credits Xinhua News) was named Most Valuable Player (MVP), while their coach, Wang Bao Quan, was awarded the Best Coach prize.
In the best-of-three third-place playoff, Jiangsu Zenith Steel Nanjing achieved two straight-set wins over Beijing Baic Motor to snatch the bronze.
