Pasig City, Philippines, April 20, 2025 – Twelve accompanying referees will be officiating during the inaugural edition of the AVC Women’s Volleyball Champions League, scheduled from April 20-27, 2025 at the PhilSports Arena.
Five referees, namely Nguyen Thanh Sang (VIE), Jirasak Pumduang (THA), Jocelyn Del Rosario (PHI), Jose Garry Jamili (PHI) and Maria Rosario Botacion (PHI), represent South East Asia.
Chen Pei-Yun (TPE), Lee Heung-Fai (HKG), and Wei Linjie (CHN) have flown in from East Asia.
Zahra Shihri Chalkasiri (IRI) and Olga Sattarova (KAZ) are from the Central Zone.
Phong Nguyen (AUS) represents Oceania, while Omar Mohmammad Omar Ashour (JOR) represents West Asia.
Under the guidance and mentorship of Referee Delegate Dean Edward Turner, OAM (AUS) and Referee Sub-Committee Member Joo Dongwook (KOR), the competition’s accompanying referees participated in and completed the theory and practical components of the Referee Clinic. Rule changes and modifications according to the FIVB Official Volleyball Rules 2025-2028 have been discussed and highlighted.
The referees, for the first time in any AVC event, will follow the court layout as utilized by Volleyball World’s Volleyball Nations League. At the same time, Competition Technology shall be upgraded to VolleyStation, including the use of team tablets. With this development in effect for the Champions League, the referees also underwent a special training with VolleyStation representative Kamil Kwieciński from Poland.
