U17 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP GAME SCHEDULES ANNOUNCED

The match schedules for the inaugural editions of the FIVB Volleyball Girls’ and Boys’ U17 World Championships, set to take place in August 2024 in Lima and Sofia, respectively, have been announced.

All the matches at both competitions will be broadcast for free on VBTV.

FIVB Volleyball Girls’ U17 World Championship

The teams of Argentina and Egypt will play in the FIVB Volleyball Girls’ U17 World Championship opener. They will hit the court at the Coliseo Eduardo Dibos on August 17 at 10:30 local time (15:30 UTC) to get Pool C action underway. The other two Pool C teams, Italy and Mexico, will launch their World Championship campaigns in the second match on that venue’s programme, facing each other at 13:30 (18:30).

The Coliseo Eduardo Dibos will also host the matches in Pool A, starting with Canada v Dominican Republic at 16:30 (21:30) on August 17 and Peru v Brazil at 19:30 (00:30 +1 day).

The other two pools will be played at the Villa Deportiva El Salvador. The competition at that venue will start half an hour later, at 11:00 (16:00) with a Pool B game between Thailand and China. Ecuador will challenge Türkiye in the second Pool B match at 14:00 (19:00).

Croatia and Puerto Rico will open Pool D for business at 17:00 (22:00), before Japan and Chinese Taipei close the first competition day as they face each other at 20:00 (01:00 +1 day).

The pool stage will last three competition days, with hosts Peru always playing at 19:30 (00:30 +1 day).

The same match starting times apply for each competition day, expect for the finals day.

The eighthfinals will be played on August 20. After a day’s rest, the quarterfinals (at all levels of the competition bracket) are set to take place on August 22, the semifinals (at all levels of the competition bracket) – on August 23, and the finals (at all levels of the competition bracket) – on August 24. On that last competition day, the starting times for the matches to determine the places from ninth to 16th at the Villa Deportiva El Salvador will start at 09:00 (14:00), 12:00 (17:00), 15:00 (20:00) and 18:00 (23:00). The matches at the Coliseo Eduardo Dibos will follow the usual schedule, with the bronze medal game set to start at 16:30 (21:30), and the gold medal showdown beginning at 19:30 (00:30 +1 day).

FIVB Volleyball Boys’ U17 World Championship

The match starting times at both venues on every competition day at the FIVB Volleyball Boys’ U17 World Championship in Sofia will be the same – 11:00 local time (08:00 UTC), 14:00 (11:00), 17:00 (14:00) and 20:00 (17:00).

The Levski Sofia hall will welcome the matches in Pools A and C (with hosts Bulgaria playing their Pool A games always at 17:00 (14:00)), four of the eighthfinals and the top end of the bracket for the quarterfinals, the semifinals and the finals. The remaining matches will be played at the Hristo Botev hall.

In the two opening matches on August 24, Mexico will take on Chinese Taipei in a Pool A fixture, while Iran and Libya open Pool B for business.

Pool C will start in the next time slot with Argentina meeting Puerto Rico, while Egypt and Tunisia wrap up day one in Pool B.

In the third time slot of the first competition day, Bulgaria will face Spain in Pool A, while Pool D gets underway with the Belgium v Uzbekistan fixture.

The day will end with duels between Italy and Cuba in Pool C and between Brazil and China in Pool D.

As with the girls’ event, there will be a rest day after the eighthfinals, set to be played on August 27. The quarterfinals, the semifinals and the finals (at all levels of the competition bracket) will be played on August 29, 30 and 31, respectively, with the Levski Sofia hall hosting the bronze medal match at 17:00 (14:00) and the big final for the historic title at 20:00 (17:00) on August 31.
