UZBEKISTAN CONTINUE DOMINANCE AS DAY 2 DELIVERS DRAMA AT CAVA BOYS’ U16 & MEN’S U19 CHAMPIONSHIPS 2025

Tashkent, Uzbekistan, June 11, 2025 – The atmosphere was electric on Day 2 of the CAVA Boys’ U16 and Men’s U19 Volleyball Championships 2025, as hosts Uzbekistan continued their impressive run in both divisions. Packed with energy, precision, and passion, the day’s matches delivered unforgettable moments for fans and showcased the growing strength of youth volleyball in Central Asia.

BOYS’ U16 CHAMPIONSHIP

UZB1 vs UZB2

The morning session began with a unique face-off between two home teams – Uzbekistan 1 (UZB1) and Uzbekistan 2 (UZB2). Despite both teams displaying solid coordination, it was UZB1 that controlled the tempo, winning in straight sets: 3–0 (25–20, 25–15, 25–17).

Head coach Zokir Nosirov praised his players for their discipline, noting strong performances from Jurabek Zamzamov and Khakim Begimkulov, who combined attacking strength with reliable serve pressure.

The technical statistics clearly reflected UZB1’s superiority in the match, with the team registering an impressive 49 attack points and 7 solid blocks, accumulating a total of 73 points. Their overall point efficiency stood at a remarkable 51%, highlighting their dominance in both offense and defense throughout the game.

UZB2, though trailing, gained valuable experience under the guidance of coach Azimjon Jumaev, with Kodirov Khakimboy and Musaev Akbar showing sparks of potential.

Kazakhstan vs Kyrgyzstan

In the second U16 match of the day, Kazakhstan bounced back from their opening loss with a dominant win over Kyrgyzstan: 3–0 (25–21, 25–10, 25–15). Displaying superior ball control and tactical awareness, Kazakhstan overpowered Kyrgyzstan, especially in the second set.

Kazakhstan’s win moved them up in the rankings, keeping them in strong contention as the round-robin format progresses.

MEN’S U19 CHAMPIONSHIP

India vs Kyrgyzstan

India came into this match needing a win—and delivered. With composure and confidence, the Indian side defeated Kyrgyzstan in straight sets: 3–0 (25–14, 27–25, 25–23). The latter two sets were intense battles, with Kyrgyzstan fighting hard, but India’s clutch serving and blocking made the difference.

Star performer Mahendra Dhruwe led India with 21 points, supported by Rajat Singh and Vignesh Shanmugam, whose attacking consistency and serve pressure helped seal the victory.

Head coach Kirumani applauded his team’s resilience and adaptability after their opening loss to Iran.

UZB1 vs UZB2

The most anticipated match of the day saw Uzbekistan 1 take on Uzbekistan 2 in a thrilling four-set showdown. UZB2 pushed their senior counterparts to the limit, even stealing a set, but UZB1 prevailed: 3–1 (25–22, 23–25, 25–22, 26–24).

With Mamayusufov Shokhbo, Hakimov Bilolbek, and Artyom Varzilov leading the charge, UZB1 demonstrated why they’re considered one of the tournament favorites. UZB2’s spirited challenge, especially from Ivan Pivoshenko and Mirkomiljon Fozilov, earned applause from the crowd.

This close contest not only thrilled fans but also highlighted the depth of talent in Uzbekistan’s U19 program.

“Kyrgyzstan may be new to this level, but their fighting spirit and learning curve are impressive,” shared a match official.

“We are proud of both teams for playing with heart. This match showed the strength of our youth system,” said coach Branislav after the all-Uzbekistan U19 clash.
