UZBEKISTAN MARKS MILESTONE AS TASHKENT HOSTS 2025 BOYS’ U19 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

Empowerment programme powers Uzbekistan’s debut as international event host

Uzbekistan will host the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Boys’ U19 World Championship from 24 July to 3 August in Tashkent, with preparations supported by the FIVB Volleyball Empowerment programme through 12 months of coaching support, event equipment, and three knowledge transfer programmes.

The coaching support, delivered under Phase I of Empowerment, covers a full-year period from 1 February 2025 to 31 January 2026. Branislav Moro is serving as head coach of the U19 boys’ national team throughout this phase, focusing on building technical quality and competitive readiness ahead of the event.

To support the event delivery, the FIVB also provided key material support, including Gerflor Taraflex flooring, Senoh nets and net system, and 100 Mikasa volleyballs. The equipment reflects ongoing efforts to raise national standards in all areas of play.

The 2025 edition will be the first time Uzbekistan hosts a Volleyball World Championship, highlighting its growing involvement in international volleyball. The country placed second in the AVC Challenge Cup in both 2023 and 2024.

The 24 participating teams will compete in four round-robin pools, with the top four teams from each group advancing to the knockout stage. All teams will play through to the end of the tournament, with final rankings determined across three additional rounds to decide positions from first to 24th.

The Uzbekistan Volleyball Federation sees the Boys’ U19 World Championship as a chance to show its progress. Empowerment support strengthens both team preparation and overall programme development.
