VFV HOSTS GALA DINNER FOR ALL 13 TEAMS PARTICIPATING IN 3RD ASIAN WOMEN’S U23 VOLLEYBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

Hanoi, Vietnam, July 16, 2019 – The Control Committee members, referees and 13 participating teams joined the Gala Dinner at Hung Vuong Hotel on Tuesday night, hosted by the Volleyball Federation of Vietnam, to officially welcome all participants to the SMM 3rd Asian Women’s U23 Volleyball Championship from July 13 to 21.

Mr Tran Duc Phan, Chairman of the Organising Committee, presided over the Gala Dinner, with VFV President Mr Le Van Thanh in attendance as guest of honour. An MC (Master of Ceremonies) introduced distinguished persons present at the Gala Dinner including Mr Tran Duc Phan and AVC Secretary-General and Control Committee Chairman Mr Shanrit Wongprasert.

Mr Tran Duc Phan was invited to the stage for a welcome speech to all participants. “On behalf of the Volleyball Federation of Vietnam, I would like to welcome all 13 participating teams as well as the Control Committee members and referees to the SMM 3rd Asian Women’s U23 Volleyball Championship in Hanoi, Vietnam. In this auspicious opportunity, I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to AVC for their support and give us a chance to host this prestigious championship. However, we cannot make it a success without good supports from AVC, sponsors and all participating teams. I wish the championship a memorable success and every participating team the very best of luck,” he said in a speech.

AVC Secretary-General and CC Chairman Mr Shanrit presented an AVC Plaque to Mr Tran Duc Phan, while VFV President Mr Le Van Thanh received a souvenir from New Zealand.

After that, all Control Committee members, referees and team managers from all 13 participating teams were invited to the stage to each get a souvenir from Mr Tran Duc Phan, Chairman of the Organising Committee. Everyone then was invited to join the cheers drinking toss and enjoyed several kinds of delicious summer meals including low-calorie recipe such as vegetable salad. Seafood choices including fried fish meat, squids and prawns. Deep fried tofu with gravy sauce and soy bean curd soup with mushrooms had also been served.

During that dining time, team players from New Zealand, Maldives, DPR Korea and Hong Kong China took turns getting to the stage for dance performances. All participants simultaneously enjoyed meals and the shows.

On Wednesday, the 3rd Asian Women’s U23 Volleyball Championship resumes at both venues, top eight teams at Gia Lam Gymnasium and classification 9th-13th places at Tay Ho Gymnasium.

A total of 13 teams are taking part in the biennial championship, vying for the top honour. They comprise Australia, China, Chinese Taipei, DPR Korea, Maldives, Thailand, Kazakhstan, New Zealand, Macau China, Hong Kong China, India, Sri Lanka and hosts Vietnam.
