Pasig City, Philippines, April 25, 2025 – The Final Four teams of the 1st AVC Women’s Volleyball Champions League have been confirmed upon the conclusion of the competition’s quarterfinal phase on Friday evening at the PhilSports Arena.
Vietnam club VTV Binh Dien Long An booked their semifinals slot via a 3-1 match (25-20, 17-25, 25-22, 28-26) against Chinese Taipei’s Taipower.
Lu Thi Phuong led the victory with 19 points from 17 attacks and 2 blocks. Meanwhile, Hsu Wan-Yun led all scorers on the board, posting 21 points in defeat.
BAIC Motor Volleyball Club (CHN) secured the last semifinals berth after a thrilling 3-2 victory (31-29, 19-25, 20-25, 25-20,15-12) over Petro Gazz Angels (PHI).
The Chinese club’s tall frontline unleashed powerful attacks, and dominated in deflection with 18 big blocks. The home team tried play along by imposing strong serves and commendable floor coverage.
BAIC Motor’s captain Jin Ye must have played the match of her life, scoring a match-high 37 points. Petro Gazz Angels’ Giovanna Day also scored a massive output, posting 35 in the heartbreaking defeat.
The semifinals are scheduled on Saturday, with Zhetysu VC (KAZ) facing Nakhon Ratchasima QminC VC (THA) at 16:00 Philippine time. VTV Binh Dien Long An will play against BAIC Motor Volleyball Club in the main event at 19:00 Philippine time.
The finals set on Sunday will confirm the champions of the inaugural AVC Champions League. Two berths to qualify for the FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club World Championship will be awarded to the champions and vice-champions from the competition in Pasig City.
