Pasig City, Philippines, April 26, 2025 – Vietnam’s VTV Binh Dien Long An forged their appearance in the finale of the 1st AVC Women’s Volleyball Champions League after a straight-sets win, 3-0 (25-15, 25-19, 25-21) against China’s BAIC Motor Volleyball Club to close off Saturday’s semifinals proceedings at the PhilSports Arena.
“After our previous loss to China , we learned a lot from the coaching staff. They analyzed that match, along with the other matches. The coaches did a great job in working our tactics. Thankfully with the effort of the whole team, we managed to win tonight,” said Captain Tran Thi Thanh Thuy, who led with 17 points in the victory.
The Vietnam side sent out a strong statement to start the match. They served strategically and even converted from 7 service winners. They managed to limit the attacking prowess of their opponents and even launched powerful swings of their own. Vi Thu Nhu Quynh and captain Tran Thi Thanh Thuy collaborated toward a huge advantage in the first set.
BAIC Motor tried to step up their play. By this time, they could set up their plays better, activating captain Jin Ye and Lu Yufei on attack. They also gained from their opponents’ one too many errors.
VTV Binh Dien Long An gathered momentum with Natalia Lijewska as an equally strong offense option. She supported the team in both attack and block, to help pull away with the win in the second set.
The Vietnam side, while somehow losing their precision in the third set, looked determined. Lu Thi Phuong provided a powerful presence activating the middle attack, while the backcourt worked patiently, recycling plays when and where they have to. They were fully charged with momentum, and went straight to close off the third set to their favor.
VTV Binh Dien Long An will play Kazakhstan’s Zhetysu VC in the title match on Sunday at 19:00 Philippine time. Aside from the stunningly crafted AVC Champions League trophy, the winning team is set to receive a plum of USD 20,000.
“Kazakhstan is a strong team. We gave our all today and we will do the same tomorrow. The coaching staff will have their work cut out trying to counter a very tall Kazakhstan team,” added the captain Tran Thi Thanh Thuy.
