Oman Volleyball Association’s beach volleyball department has been granted CHF 72,000 in FIVB Volleyball Empowerment coach support for their men’s national pairs, who are working under the supervision of Iranian coach Amirhossein Esmaeilzadeh. CHF 72,000 of the funding that the Qatar Volleyball Association has received from FIVB Volleyball Empowerment so far was also tagged for coach support for their men’s national beach volleyball pairs, trained by Argentinean expert Pablo Bernardi. Another CHF 9,500 went for beach volleyball equipment.
Second-seeded Mazin & Hood of Oman cruised through the tournament without dropping a single set on the way to the crown. In the semifinals, they claimed a 2-0 (21-9, 22-20) win over seventh-seeded Jad Abi Karam & Hadi El Chabib of Lebanon and, in the final, the Omani pair achieved a 2-0 (21-18, 21-18) victory over sixth-seeded Mahdi & Ihab of Qatar.
Mahdi & Ihab also reached the final undefeated, completing a four-game winning streak with a 2-0 (23-21, 21-18) semifinal win over fourth-seeded Qatari compatriots Elmajid & Essam, who then bounced back with a 2-0 (21-12, 21-11) sweep of the third-place match against Jad & El Chabib to pick up the bronze.
