Pasig City, Philippines, April 22, 2025 – Kazakhstan’s Zhetysu VC secured their second victory in Pool A of the 1st AVC Women’s Volleyball Champions League after a straight-sets match, 3-0 (25-10, 25-15, 25-11) over Jordan’s Al Naser Club on Tuesday afternoon at the PhilSports Arena.
A taller, more experienced Zhetysu VC roster opened the match with a bold statement. Karyna Denysova and Yuliia Dymar collaborated on the wings while Anikonova posted at the middle. There was no room to relax for the Kazakh club as they ran their plays anchored on a formidable frontline, which showed heavy contrast on their opponents’ dynamic on the court.
Ilisandra Klein and Natiele Gonçalves tried to spark the offense of Al Naser Club. They connected on attacks, but also assisted in the passing lanes. The Jordan club showed that they could run good plays and make wise decisions in transition, but lagged in consistency.
The Kazakh club rode upon their advantage in technique, tactics, and momentum going into the third set. Setter Daria Sharhorodska made good use of her hitters and distributed her sets well. Anikonova was also getting prolific with her kill blocks, which only further hyped the team to a huge, unsurmountable lead and their second victory in Pasig City.
Zhetysu VC now await their matchup in the quarterfinal phase starting Thursday, while Al Naser Club will end their bid in the Champions League for 2025.
