The meeting was held in hybrid format with the Commission President joining from the FIVB Headquarters
Top-tier international coaches, led by Commission President Giovanni Guidetti and Secretary Philippe Blain, gathered on Monday for the FIVB Technical and Coaching Commission to discuss the 2023 season and look ahead to 2024.
The Commission discussed several important topics, including the updates from volleyball and beach volleyball events as well as the Volleyball Calendar 2025-2028.
For the first time, the Commission was joined by Kare Mol, a head coach of the Norwegian Vikings, Anders Mol and Christian Sorum, who was appointed earlier this year as an observer representing beach volleyball.
Opening the meeting, FIVB President Dr Ary S. Graça F° said:
“As you know, the primary objective of Volleyball Empowerment and our development programmes is to help national teams reach their full potential. Coaching to improve the technical level of national teams remains at the heart of this development.
“Since 2017, the FIVB has allocated over CHF 17.3 million – 75% of our total investment – towards the development of national teams through 339 coach support projects. These projects have created a number of new jobs for coaches and, since 2017, we have employed more than 200 coaches through Volleyball Empowerment. And this year has been no exception. Currently, there are 91 ongoing coach support projects with 139 coaches working under Volleyball Empowerment.”
The FIVB will continue its annual Commission meetings early next year with the Development Commission scheduled for 29 January, while the Volleyball Empowerment Commission meeting will take place on 30 January.
