Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, September 29, 2024 – Hosts Nakhon Ratchasima QminC VC bested Kazakhstan’s Kuanysh VC in straight sets, 3-0 (25-22, 25-18, 25-21) to finish third place at the 2024 Asian Women’s Club Volleyball Championship.
The bronze medal taken by the home team on Sunday afternoon at Chartchai Hall adds to their list of honors including the silver medal in 2021.
Captain and setter Sirima Manakit ran a well-orchestrated offense, practically employing every attack zone available. She provided good balance amongst the wing, middle and backrow options, and her hitters posted good accuracy.
Kuanysh VC adjusted and firmed up their frontline, enforcing stuff blocks upon their opponents. They also worked harder in the backcourt, to enable in recycling their plays.
The home team played quicker and smarter, setting up Sasipapron Janthawisut and Onuma Sittirak. They soon benefitted from their opponents’ miscues to take the first set.
The Kazakh club team needed to find a way to be as prolific as their opponents. They enabled Anastasiya Kudryashova and Sana Anarkulova at the flanks, to try and get them to a scoring run. However, they continued to suffer from errors, especially when their opponents started to unleash strategic serves.
By the third set, the crowd at the Chartchai Hall grew more excited and engaged, seeing how the home team had carried over a good measure of momentum. Their opponents continued to rally and fight along each sideout.
The bronze medal point was delivered by Onuma, who scored a total of 15 points, the highest tally across the scoreboard.
