Manama, Bahrain, October 7, 2024 – The Bahrain senior national volleyball team continue their training stints under the close supervision of Argentinian coach Jorge Alberto Elgueta, assistant Yassin Al-Meel and statistical analyst Muhammad Salman in their preparation for the Arab Senior Men’s Volleyball Championship.
The biennial tournament will take place on the territory of the Kingdom Bahrain from October 30 to November 11, 2024, with eight teams vying for top honour. Hosts have been drawn in Pool A with Tunisia, Iraq and Oman, while Pool B consists of Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Jordan.
Since the championship inception in 1977 in Kuwait, Tunisia captured seven gold medals. Egypt claimed four, with Algeria taking 3, Bahrain 2 and Kuwait 1. Egypt made it three times in succession after winning gold medals in the previous three editions (2014 in Kuwait, 2016 and 2018 in Egypt).
In 2020, the championship was cancelled due to the COVID_19 pandemic, while the 2022 edition was not held.
Bahrain is organizing the 2024 championship for the sixth time after successful hosting in 1994, 1998, 2006, 2008 and 2012.
At the latest edition in 2018, Egypt retained their title, while Bahrain and Oman finished second and third places respectively.
