FIVB ATHLETES’ COMMISSION WELCOMES NEW MEMBERS!

The elected athletes will serve on the Commission for the 2024-2028 term

The highly anticipated 2024 FIVB Athletes’ Commission elections for five of the positions took place from 16-30 September, with voters casting their ballots through a secure LUMI voting platform.

A total of 15 athletes – seven men and eight women – stood for the prestigious positions to represent the interests of their fellow volleyball and beach volleyball players.

The five athletes elected to the Commission are:

·       Jordan Quinn Larson (USA) – received the highest number of votes in the Volleyball Women category

·       Simone Anzani (ITA) – received the highest number of votes in the Volleyball Men category

·       Sandra Ittlinger (GER) – received the highest number of votes in the Beach Volleyball Women category

·       Joshua Binstock (CAN) – received the highest number of votes in the Beach Volleyball Men category

·       Louise Bawden (AUS) – received the highest number of votes from the remaining candidates

The newly elected members will serve on the Commission from 2024-2028, helping to shape policies that impact athletes and provide a voice within the FIVB’s decision-making processes.

The term of the new Athletes’ Commission will start after the appointment of the remaining candidates by the FIVB Board of Administration during its first meeting following the FIVB World Congress. The final composition of the 10-member Commission will be shared accordingly.

Launched during the Olympic Games Rio 2016, the FIVB Athletes’ Commission is made up of ten members, with five elected by their peers and five appointed by the FIVB Board of Administration. The Commission ensures equal gender representation and a balance between volleyball and beach volleyball representatives.
