NEC Red Rockets Kawasaki, who recently represented Asia at the FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club World Championship, have not been able to achieve continuity in their latest SV.League results. They have not been able to win both games of a double header since early December and are currently on a streak of five consecutive five-set matches in Japan, winning two and losing three of them. The defending champions are fourth in the current standings on a 13-7 win-loss ratio and 42 points.

This weekend, NEC will host Osaka Marvelous for two games at the Culttz Kawasaki, starting at 14:05 local time (05:05 UTC) on Saturday and at 13:05 (04:05) on Sunday. Osaka are on top of the table on 17-3 and 51, riding the wave of an 11-match winning streak. The last time they lost a point was in their five-set win at Kurobe Aqua Fairies back in November.

NEC and Osaka will meet for the first time this season. Last season they met three times. Marvelous won the first two encounters, but Red Rockets triumphed in four sets in the championship final in early March.
