NAKHON RATCHASIMA QMINC VC HEAD TO AVC CHAMPIONS LEAGUE SEMIS AFTER SWEEP OF CREAMLINE COOL SMASHERS

Pasig City, Philippines, April 24, 2025 – Thailand’s Nakhon Ratchasima QminC VC confirmed their semifinals slot in the 1st AVC Women’s Volleyball Champions League after a straight-sets win, 3-0 (25-15, 25-22, 25-16) against the Philippines’ Creamline Cool Smashers on Thursday evening at the PhilSports Arena.

Onuma Sittirak posted a total of 12 points but was ably supported by Anyse Smith (13 points) and Sasipaporn Janthawisut (12 points) who likewise contributed double-digits. “Thanks to my teammates. Today, we really played well as a team,” the Thai captain said.

The Thai club amassed a huge advantage, leading by as much as 10 points in the first set, running their offense on Smith and Evangelia Chantava. They also served strategically and gave much difficulty to their opponents’ passing unit.

Creamline Cool Smashers signalled in their substitute hitter Bernadeth Pons, who brought the house down with some amazing swings from the left flank. But there were no other measures thrown in for the home team to make a comeback in the opening set.

The Philippine club energized the middle in the second set, as they could convert with quick attacks. More importantly, they were lining up their blocks much more effectively, forcing their opponents to recycle plays.

Meanwhile, the Thai club responded to the challenge, captain Onuma and substitute Sasipaporn became more prolific on attack and delivered in clutch plays to take a two-set advantage.

Nakhon Ratchasima QminC VC continued on in the third set, carrying a good measure of momentum. They maintained their tempo and in both offense and defense and gained even more from their opponents’ errors.

The home team’s Pons and Anastasya Kudryashova tried to boost the team’s score but could not manage to overcome the sizeable lead at the closing plays of the straight-sets match.

Nakhon Ratchasima QminC VC will play against Kazakhstan’s Zhetysu VC on Saturday afternoon in the 1st semifinal match scheduled at 16:00 Philippine time.
